(The contents of the .jpg file): Scranton Times Friday, October 10, 1919 page 21 OBITUARY The funeral of Mrs. Sarah Rees, of 112 Main street, Peckville, who died Saturday last as a result of apoplexy, was held from the family residence Tuesday afternoon. A large number of friends attended and extended their sympathy to the bereaved family. The deceased had been a resident of this section since 1867, at which time she emigrated from the parish of Bettys Newydd, Monmouthwhire, England, arriving in America April 1, 1867. The deceased was a woman of noble Christian character and high standing in the community. She was a charter member of the Peckville Baptist church. Had she lived and retained her usual good health till Sunday, October 5, it would have been her pleasure to be present and carry out her part of the proram at the Baptist church and burn the mortgage which she, through her devotion to the church was responsible to a great extent in paying off. Rev. H. J. Baker, of the Peckville Baptist church, officiated, assisted by Rev. J. S. Thomas. The clergymen paid high tribute to the deceased and made reference to the many Christian acts in her work as a Christian woman which would stand as a monument to her memory. During the service selections were rendered by members of the church choir. Interment was made in Prospect cemetery. The pallbearers were: Henry Dando, George Dando, John Titley, Harry Telford, Edwin H. Ritter, William Belsh. The flower carreirs were: Herbert James, Edward Miles, John Peters, Jahn Gates, Sr. So numerous were the floral offerings received from friends from Forest City to Scranton it was necessary to use an automobile to convey them to the cemetery. She is survived by the following sons and daughters: William J., of Scranton; John S., Frank H., Mrs. John Warring and Olive, of Peckville.
